Rusty My husband and I adopted Rusty last August. He was almost 2 and despite his size, he was fearful of other dogs and expressed his fear through aggression. In the first 6 months we met with a trainer at least once a week, and spent an additional 1-2 hours a day on walking and training exercises. We invested an enormous amount of time and money into giving him a second chance at a better life. That’s why we were heartbroken the day Rusty nipped me as he tried to attack a small puppy. We didn’t have a lot of options as we believed we had done almost everything we could to help him. Rusty had the potential to be a sweet dog and wonderful companion, but his abuse and lack of socialization as a young puppy were limiting his progress. The first time Rusty met Jay, he almost tore through a door to attack an elderly dog in the office waiting area. We weren’t surprised - we had been seeing this behavior since we adopted him. Within two adjustments, Rusty was a different dog. I wouldn’t attribute his transformation to chiropractic alone, but I would say chiropractic gave Rusty a new perspective on assessing his surroundings and responding appropriately rather than immediately turning to aggression when he felt insecure.
Rusty is almost 3 now. He goes to the dog park and plays with other dogs. We still spend hours each week exercising and training him. He isn’t perfect and we still have to watch him closely, but he is a happier dog than the one that we brought into Jay’s office just a few months ago. We would not have been able to keep Rusty without Jay’s skill, knowledge and expertise. Thank you for enabling Rusty to live up to his potential!
